Sixth-ranked Osos (4-22) made lots of trouble for third ranked Criollos (15-11) in Manati on Tuesday. The visitors from Caguas managed to secure only one-point victory 97-96. However their fans expected easier game. Caguas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Panamanian-American center Akil Mitchell (206-1992, college: Virginia) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. American point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) chipped in 20 points and 9 assists. The former international Ismael Cruz (190-2000, college: Indian Hills) produced 22 points and 7 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Criollos have a solid series of four victories in a row. Caguas moved-up to second place, which they share with Mayaguez. Manati lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 22 games lost. Caguas is looking forward to face Carolina (#4) at home in the next round. Manati will play against the league's second-placed Santurce and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
Important game to mention about took place in Aguada. Sixth ranked Santeros (9-16) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Atleticos (12-15) 93-91 on Sunday evening. The former international point guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa (185-1997, college: UNF) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Nathan Sobey contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Andre Curbelo (183-2001, college: Southern Miss) answered with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists for San German. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Aguada maintains sixth place with 9-16 record. San German at the other side keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. Aguada will play against league's second-placed Mayaguez on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San German will play against Arecibo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Ponce between Leones and Mets. Fourth ranked Leones (12-13) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Mets (9-17). Leones managed to escape with a 3-point win 97-94 in the game for the fourth place. It was a great evening for Aleem Ford who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 7 rebounds. Leones' coach Carlos Morales used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. DeMarcus Cousins responded with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks. Ponce maintains fourth place with 12-13 record. Loser Mets keeps the fifth position with 17 games lost. Ponce will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guaynabo will play against the league's leader Bayamon (#1) and hope to secure a win.

Other games of round 23 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:

His fellow American import center Montrezl Harrell (203-1994, college: Louisville) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Mali power forward Cheick Diallo (206-1996, college: Kansas) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Jordan Howard (180-1996, college: Cent Arkansas) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 12-12 record. Manati lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 22 games lost. Carolina will meet higher ranked Caguas (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
